What changed
Retrospect published macOS 27 guidance on September 14 explaining that most components in version 20.0.1 still require Rosetta on Apple silicon. It says Rosetta must be reinstalled after an operating-system upgrade for normal operation. Its instructions reference Mac backup and client version 20.0.1.213 or newer and use the installers to trigger the required runtime setup.
Why it matters
For administrators, checking that the backup application is installed would therefore be insufficient to verify readiness after an upgrade. The runtime dependency needs to be included in post-upgrade checks before relying on scheduled protection.
What remains unproven
Retrospect says Novus UI 20.0.1.212 already runs natively and promises native versions of the remaining components before macOS 28. That roadmap is not delivered support, and the bulletin supplies no field reliability measurements.
