What changed
iFi introduced the GO cable on September 14, combining a digital-to-analogue converter and headphone amplifier in an earphone cable. It uses USB-C at the source and a 0.78mm two-pin connection for compatible in-ear monitors. The company says it supports audio up to 32-bit/384kHz and includes playback controls and a microphone. A starter kit pairs it with AIRO Astra earphones.
Why it matters
Integrating the electronics into the cable could reduce the number of separate accessories in a wired listening setup. The connector specification is consequential: this is an option for compatible detachable-cable earphones, not a universal replacement.
What remains unproven
The release does not establish audible improvements over another adapter. Microphone quality, connector fit and everyday durability also remain untested in this synthesis.
