- Managed infrastructure supports persistent Node.js applications.
What changed
DigitalOcean announced general availability of Cloudways Velocity on September 14. The managed Node.js service uses persistent server resources and Git-based deployment, while Cloudways handles maintenance, patching, SSL and backups. The company says plans start at $20 per month and support applications including Next.js frontends and Express API backends.
Why it matters
Our assessment is that combining these operations in one service could simplify hosting decisions for small development teams. A fixed monthly plan also gives agencies a starting point for estimating client hosting costs.
What remains unproven
The announcement does not independently establish workload performance or savings against alternative hosts. Buyers would still need to evaluate resource limits, application compatibility and actual support quality for their deployment.
