- MSIX lifecycle operations expand.
- Fleet-wide delivery is not immediate.
What changed
JumpCloud's September 14 notes describe agent 2.173.0 adding machine-wide installation, updating and removal of MSIX applications on Windows, including MSI-to-MSIX conversion paths. On macOS, App Catalog updates use transactional installations, which the vendor says reduce damaged-application failures. JumpCloud warns that agent releases arrive progressively during the week.
Why it matters
The package-management change could give administrators another way to maintain Windows applications without depending solely on Winget. On Macs, reducing failed catalog updates would make routine maintenance less disruptive, if the reported fix holds across the applications and device configurations an organization actually uses.
What remains unproven
The notes provide no measured failure-rate reduction or application compatibility matrix. They also do not establish that every managed device has received the agent, so availability and successful installation require separate confirmation.
