- Review controls now work on cells without citations.
What changed
Punchcard's September 15 updates let auditors validate or flag any Excel cell, including cells without attached evidence. A new shortcut clears review verdicts. Engagement boards gain a renumbering action with a change preview; a subsequent same-day note separates requests from workpaper tasks and removes individual number editing.
Why it matters
These controls distinguish a reviewer's assessment from the presence of a document citation. They also give client-facing requests a contiguous sequence, potentially making references easier to follow. The latest numbering note supersedes the earlier description, so teams should use the Display menu's Renumber action.
What remains unproven
The notes do not establish stronger audit evidence or review quality. Punchcard says clearing a verdict-only cell removes its record entirely; firms should assess that behavior against their documentation needs.
